What the training involves

The Catch Up® training and support packages centre on three half-day training sessions that fully prepare the adults who are going to deliver the interventions in your school or setting. We also offer additional training for the member of staff who is going to be responsible for managing the interventions, and a review session for all trainees around six months after their initial training.

Delivering Catch Up® - 3 half-day training sessions

The training comprises 3 practical half-day training sessions with follow-up tasks, for the adult who is going to be delivering the Catch Up® intervention and the member of staff managing the intervention.

After each session, you will be given short 'follow-up tasks' to carry out with a learner in your school or setting, practising the skills you have learnt so far. You then give feedback on the tasks at the next training session, so you learn from each other as well as from your Catch Up® Accredited Trainer. Your feedback on the follow-up tasks is then built upon during the next training session(s), enabling you to rapidly develop your Catch Up® skills.

Managing Catch Up®

Your training and support package includes a 60-minute session for the member of staff who will manage the intervention in your school. It considers in detail the effective management of the intervention in school or other setting.

Review and next steps

Around 6 months after your training, we offer a half-day session that reviews your delivery of Catch Up®, and gives further guidance for all trained members of staff delivering Catch Up® and the member of staff who is managing it.
